Market trends and outlook for 2025
In the first half of 2025, the Italian market shows positive signs, driven by the growth of proximity retail and a strong focus on sustainable solutions. Internationally, the Business Units are working to strengthen brand presence and seize new opportunities in a challenging but promising environment.
ITALY – Nearby retail: increasing demand, new opportunities open up
The proximity retail channel continues to grow, driving demand for compact baskets such as the MaxiTyko and Slimmer. There is also interest in models such as Panero (Rabtrolley), which are currently not in the Plastimark range.
Among the main projects, the supply of black compound models (Hybrid and Pleasy) for the CRAI – Tutti i giorni sign is underway. A test will start with Sole365 on MaxiTyko AluNova, made with the Tetrapak material, with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
Growing interest from the market for: Hybrid Super, Twiga, Pleasy and City for Pet.
A recurring criticality was reported: the delivery of damaged or dirty trolleys, partly due to negligence in transport, partly due to a missing check in the warehouse. Evaluations are underway to improve the quality of service and reduce non-conformities.
BU Europe: focus on brand awareness and business development
The first half of 2025 for BU Europe shows a downward sales trend compared to the same period in 2024. A more detailed analysis of the trend is in progress, and a preliminary report was presented at the sales meeting in early July.
The strategic goal of the Business Unit for 2025 is to strengthen brand awareness and intensify lead generation activities. The first quarter was devoted to the evaluation of the existing distribution network, while in the coming months the focus will be on the gaining of new contacts throughout Europe.
In addition, a business development project was launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in cooperation with Cribis, in order to preside over high-potential markets.
There is a growing interest in solutions dedicated to proximity shops, in particular the Pleasy, Tyko and MiniTyko models. On the other hand, there is a lack of products in the range, particularly the 55-80L 4-wheel baskets with tilting handle, currently offered by competitors such as Araven, Shopping Basket and Wanzl.
Finally, targeted action is being taken to improve quality control in the final stages of production to ensure greater reliability and reduce non-conformities in the finished product.
BU France: product development and focus on the domestic market
Turnover in 2025 remains in line with that of 2024, while activities continue to expand and diversify the offer, in response to new market needs.
Highlighted projects include the development of the Returno model, a reusable basket similar to the Shopping Basket Rebasket, which responds to the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the supermarkets.
In September, Plastimark France will be present at the national LECLERC trade show, an important opportunity to meet directly with the brand’s shops and reinforce the brand’s visibility in the French market.
One of the main current challenges is limited production availability, which makes planning complex and impacts negatively on logistical efficiency. Coordination between production and distribution needs to be improved to reduce delivery costs and guarantee more certain delivery times for customers.
